How hard is it to get classes at De Anza/Foothill?

Do you get waitlisted right away if you are a new student? How hard is it?

Very hard  Before you there are 5 type of people getting priority: Athlete/Veteran => 75+ Units Completion => 50+ => 30+ => less than 30 => you. Most of the time you will get waitlisted for popular classes such as calc1, english 1a, etc. In that case, consider taking gen-ed class first (fill up slow), then take major pre-reqs a quarter later. The good thing abt quarter system is that you can finish the entire calc series and calc-based physics series in just a year, if your major is engineering, that is.

After your first quarter, it will be much easier to register for class. But then, even if you get waitlisted, just show up and annoy the instructor and they will let you in  I constantly email an anthropology class instructor that she ended up giving me an add code after receiving ten emails from me in a week lol

Thanks you! :D

It’s easier to get the classes you want at Foothill. They don’t fill up that quickly. If you find that the class you want is closed, you can always put yourself on the waiting list. As a second-year Foothill student, I’ve seen ALMOST everyone on the waiting list get into the classes of their choice, especially math and physics classes. It never hurts to go to class on the first day, even if you’re on the waiting list. Hope that helps.

Good to know! How is the social scene like at De Anza/Foothill?

^Like probably any CC, it’s almost non existent. The only time you see the same people are the 1 or 2 times you have classes with them per week. And there’s no like real school wide activities/spirit theme things. At foothill they have a thing called “college hour” every wednesday, which like the name implies only lasts a couple hours. It’s not anything really social, just events like voter registration, breast cancer awareness, clubs, uc transfer help, etc. It’s the only reoccurring even the asb puts on.

I see, thanks!

But the beginning of the quarters you will sometimes see free things given away including Pinkberry, Free water, coffee, snack bars, etc. SO GOOD

I go to foothill, and quite frankly I don’t like it here very much lol but than again who likes going to any community college?

^ True that. Your social life goes like -1000%

By the way if their are any girls from foothill reading this than message me you’re facebook =D
