How hard is it to get double versus a triple?

Are there more triples than doubled? Just wondering what my chances of getting a double are, thanks!

I think there are more doubles than triples. Your chance of getting a double are increased if you put your deposit down earlier rather than later. Four years ago, AU said that many people would be de-tripled by spring semester. My daughter was actually offered a double before move-in day (she was initially assigned a triple because she committed on May 1). She regretfully turned down the double because she became friendly with her roommates on line during the summer. She ended up moving into a double for spring semester (roommates were better online than in person). Some people who accept AU’s offer may get off waiting lists during the summer and their room space becomes available. Other students may transfer after fall semester. Lots of different scenarios of how doubles become available. Your best bet at a double is to commit to AU early.

commit and sign housing contract early…that’s the only way to avoid a triple. As for de-tripling, our freshman daughter was offered an opportunity to de-triple fairly early in fall semester…then again over winter break. She and her two roommates decided to stay together. Also, keep in mind that if you are participating in University College, I believe your chances to de-triple are slightly reduced due to needing to stay with your peer group. That being siad, our daughter is ini UC and it didnt affect her…

Does anyone know if AU Scholars has more doubles or triples?
