Didn’t make it to CS at UIUC, so I’m looking at UW Madison. Is the acceptance rate here just as low as UIUC?
For UW computer science major, simply earning a C or above in CS 200 allows you to declare the major. Therefore the acceptance rate into CS is the same as the acceptance rate to enter the entire university.
You get admitted to the university as a whole at UW. Something very nice. You can change majors and your acceptance to UW is not dependent on your stated major on your application.
Currently they request putting a major on your application but that major will not determine getting into UW. Getting accepted into a major means meeting its requirements- see the UW site for details. You can switch majors at any time. Very few majors have space limitations- currently CS is not one of them.
