i applied as a business major but got in as my alternate

i've been hearing the business major at irvine is very hard to get into because it is impacted, and is contingent on the grades you receive the 1st two years here. just wondering, what exactly are they looking for if you want to enter the business school? how selective is it, and how difficult is it to get into the program?

thanks

It is very selective… apparently.

I was accepted into the program when I entered as a freshman, but stupidly enough I changed majors to biosci before orientation, and wasn’t aware that I can’t go back into the business admin major.

Regardless, it is very selective to enter the business admin as a change-of-major. Although they look at GPA, they will be looking how well you did in pre-requisite classes such as: Math 2A-B, Econ 20A-B, MGMT 30A-B & 7.

When I visited the counselor, I was told that they will be only accepting around 15-20 new students into the program this year, and this includes transfer students.

I was told the average accepted GPA for business admin change-of-major will be around 3.8+.
