What are my chances at rowan engineering?

Didn’t you post a similar thread before?

From what you said it seems like SAT wise you are good, but your grades may be a little lower than what they are looking for.

Either way as a baseline here at Rowan we look for about 1250 minimum SAT and top 15% of graduating class for engineering. Every year since I got there in 2008 we have upped the average scores, the Mechanical freshman class this had to stop taking applications pretty early and the average was like a 3.8 gpa and 1320 SAT or something.

Our freshman sizes are getting bigger, but I think that’s a result of the majority of accepting applications now taking offers. They also of course factor in some students not making it after the 1st year or 2. Chemical always seems to have the smallest graduating class, but I think that’s a result of having a higher drop major rate not because of accepting less students than other majors.

Rowan is a growing school but many people don’t realize how highly ranked some programs are. We have the #2 Chemical Eng. program in the country for non PHD universities, so are very much a top tier school.

If you REALLY want to go there why send an application in cold? The professor’s are VERY VERY busy but if you write a concise email to the right person, tell them “I’m going to an Open house, I really want to attend Rowan, etc”… Then introduce yourself at said open house, make yourself known, put a face to the name. I can’t say it would help 100%, but that’s what I did as a transfer student (Though for transfers the Assistant Dean makes the decisions directly, not sure about freshman).

As always if you get accepted or have any further questions feel free to PM me, Rowan Engineering has pretty much been my life for the last 4+ years.

Thanks for your response. Is that 3.8 weighted?

I am not totally sure, honestly I didn’t come right from high school so SAT and high school GPA criteria elude me a bit. I was a transfer student from community college.
