How hard is it to get into UCLA as an international student?

We want you to understand what you are up against now, not next spring when it is too late. Do you see what I mean? My own S had a 34, an unweighted 95% avg. very good ECs, excellent recs. He might have gotten into UCLA. But might not. He is going to Michigan. And a lot of kids with scores equivalent or better were rejected from Michigan.

Major is a key thing here. Engineering is harder to get into in most top schools. So their acceptance rates are even lower. It seems business schools and engineering are very tough admit rates. So get ready for that. Figure out what makes you stand out. Test that here. If ppl say it is not enough, believe them and try again to define yourself. It is for your own good.

So our point is, you are definitely qualified. If you get your SAT up to 2200, you will have a much better chance. But be aware of the “true” odds. None of us take any joy in someone getting shut out. So learn from the people here, ok? (Sorry, as my name indicates, I’m a mom. Always a mom, so I will be nice when I say to you, don’t be a d hole, whatever that is;)

As an international applicant to UCLA, your chances of getting admitted are very low. I have not seen this year’s data yet, but in the past years the records have shown that international admitted students’ rate is significantly lower than In-State’s and their GPAs and standardized test scores are noticeably higher too. I think UCLA is a reach school for you. You need to have more schools that aren’t as selective as UCLA as your fall back schools. You may want to look into the cal states/polies pr sanfa clara.
