I’m an international student. I took the British A-levels and I expect to get 3 A* and an A. I have taken the new SAT (1480) and 4 SAT Subject tests (3 800s and 1 780). I’m pretty active at school (varsity soccer team, student government, and first aid club). I also had an internship this summer.
@donuts99 - International admits are VERY competitive at all these schools. Plus fees are extremely high as well. All you can do is apply and see.
Alright, thanks for the response.
The UC’s give no need based aid to out of state applicants. Can you afford $60,000/year?
Yea, do you think I’ll have a decent chance?
You could have a pretty good shot, what major are you planning to apply to? Ivies are always a toss-up, but to have a good shot as an international applicant you have to be top in everything, and even then you might not get in.
@waswaswasnt I applied to Princeton undeclared, and undecided in the college of Letters & Science for UCB & UCLA
@donuts99 That’s not going to help your chances, undeclared/undecideds are typically among the hardest things to get in to.
@waswaswasnt - what is the basis of your statement? Just curious
@medscibud because it’s equivalent to applying to the hardest majors… if you apply undecided, you can go to whatever major you want, so it’s as hard or harder to get in to as those harder majors
Ok thanks, that’s your opinion, not a fact. i don’t agree with your assumption that it is equivalent to applying to the hardest majors, but that’s ok. No need for further elaboration.
Why do people on CC keep giving BS misinformation? Can everyone just source their statements/advice or not give it at all (Source as in personal experience, or “THIS IS AN OPINION TAKE IT WITH A GRAIN OF SALT”, etc.)?
I realize I have posted in the past without stating “This is my opinion” but it should be clear from the posts that they are. In your case @waswaswasnt you’re saying it’s harder as a statement, which is very confusing and misleading.
