I know that you may have to petition to get a parking pass but arent there any private garages near campus?

I was just looking at the parking permits. I think you have to apply and they are limited to certain students depending on your commute etc. Though it was all so overwhelming I don’t know. I do know that it is EXPENSIVE! Good lord. I should find a carpool.

i thiiinkkkk you just need to apply early and have a damn good reason for wanting one…unchill, cuz i damn sure want my car

no kidding. I also no have no choice but to commute for at least the first quarter. I can hopefully find roommates and carpool or take public transportation from there on.

You need to have a VERY good reason and be able to prove it and like they said already. If you do get it, its very expensive. Plus theirs soo much traffic in LA, theirs no point of having a car.

what about if you volunteer at a memory care facility or a nursing home during the weekends? Are they good reasons?

Sometimes I enter the parking structure and it is full, despite the fact that I spent over $500 for the pass… Luckily, I haven’t encountered this problem lately and it only exists for a few hours in the day anyway.

The whole parking situation is weird. I’m happy I’m also an employee here and can get the Blue Permit, lol.

To Pinoiako916: Those are good reasons. If you can demonstrate that you have to travel, even if you choose to live on campus, I think you’ll have a shot.

i’ve had a parking pass every quarter, and i live on campus. it’s like $249 a quarter

say you have a job

if you have an on and off job, work like 2 days just so you can get a paycheck

if you get audited, just bring that pay check = you pass the audit

it was probably easier for me because my job was really chill and i’ve been on leave for a while, so when i needed to work for only like 2 days out of a month my bosses were cool with it.

you can look for private garages on craigslist, or you can look for friends who have apartments but don’t have cars on campus and ask them if you can use theirs. i’ve never had a problem finding street parking, it’s all a matter of how far you’re willing to walk and how early you want to get to campus. sometimes i opt to park on the side streets instead of on campus parking because it’s closer to my dorm

wait did someone just say that you don’t need a car in LA because of traffic? i whole heartedly disagree.

i am saying i have two children. which i do. i better get one, the 2 bus takes like over an hour to get from my house in los feliz to westwood.
