How hard is it to transfer from exploratory track to business at UMASS Amherst

My D is instate student and has been admitted to behavioral science exploratory track. She is intrested in majoring in Marketing now knowing that getting into business school at UMass Amherst is very competative, what are the chances or it is extremely difficult after first year to transfer into their business program. Is it easier to transfer if you are coming from another school versus from same school ?

anyone can help here guys

It depends on how many spaces they have and also how many transfer applicants they get. But they definitely expect to get some students from the exploratory track program. Your D can apply as soon as the second semester of the first year, if she gets good grades in the 3 required courses in the first semester.

If I remember correctly, internal transfers were around a 3.6-3.8 GPA average for Isenberg. But this was like a year ago, so not sure if it changed or not. I know this sounds really intimidating, but the bar is definitely set higher for internal transfers than students who get accepted into it from the start. If she’s able to hold around that area, she should have no problem getting in. If she can’t make the grade though, then another option would be to talk to the dean about it (sooner rather than later). This second method isn’t really guaranteed at all though. I know one person who got into Isenberg with the dean’s override just because they kept in contact with him and showed continued interest.
