Hi all,
I've studying in a CCC for 1.5 years and I'm going to apply to transfer to UCLA School of Art & Architecture in this November...

I just have such a strong desire to get into UCLA although I know that Cal Poly Pomona has better architecture major than UCLA.

I found that UCLA has a terrible admitted rate for School of Art & Architecture....I dont know what their standard is....

I have to say that I'm talented: I 've been drawing pictures/cartoons since I was born...and I am really a pro pianist (have been learning piano since I was 6).

In relation to Architecture, I'm good at AutoCAD and drafting (have finished 2 related courses so far)...blablabla

Will these factors help me to transfer??...My current GPA is 3.5, but will become 3.7 by the end of this semester...

well, I do appreciate any useful responses from you!!

I was admitted to Design Media Arts for Fall 2011. My gpa is 3.83 cumulative, 4.0 major. I wasn’t sure how great my portfolio was, though I do know it was well presented. My UC essays were pretty good to excellent and my supplemental application was pretty good, I think.

A solid GPA, solid portfolio and strong ability to articulate what it is you want to do should make you competitive. At least from what I can tell.

Hi Phobot!
As a transfer student applying for UCLA’s Media Arts programs, I have a question(s), did you have a lot of internships/work/volunteer experience in the field of design? Or do you think it was mostly your grades and portfolio that got you in?
I have good grades (about 3.98) and have held a job every semester to help out my parents (while being a full-time student) and I was even a Getty Intern at a museum this past summer (where I did some graphics work) and my portfolio is pretty descent.
Do you think this would be enough?
Any help/tips would be greatly appreciated :)
