What do you guys think is harder to get into: UVA(OOS) or WUSTL?

The acceptance rate for UVa OOS 2009: 22% reference Notes from Peabody.

The acceptance rate for WUSTL 2009: 22% reference USNews College ranking Best colleges 2011

At my school the average GPA for UVA is 3.84. The average SAT is 1335/1600 and 1973/2400.

Of course, half my school is in-state…

Every district has a different grading scale, different weighting, and different methodology for calculating GPAs. There is no use in trying to glean information about admission using high school GPAs.

^It would give people general ideas of what it takes to get into UVa from different areas. But, yeah, I suppose it doesn’t help much. Sort of like chancing threads, no?

I don’t think you can even break it down by district. In our area we have different grading scales even at HS’s in the same county. Overall, Naviance is a guide for stats for numbers. Yes, for most colleges you have to meet certain baselines. However, in the grand scheme of college applications and admissions students are so much more. They are involved individuals with personal stories to share. I think parents and students sometimes fail to look beyond the stats when decisions come out. Colleges are building a class based on people not numbers.

Does UVA recalculate GPA? if so, how?

Dean J has addressed this in previous posts and on her blog. The answer is no.

are you OOS UVAorBust?

Yup, I’m a sad New Yorker.

UNC is NOT as hard as UVa for OOS. Two kids from my school last year went to UNC-CH with 32 ACTs but both got rejected from UVa. One was our salutatorian.
