How hard to direct transfer into Mechanical Engineering at UW?

Hi all, I am currently a student at Purdue University but I want to transfer to UW. A little bit about me, I went to a community college in Washington state, was not decisive about my major, so I just decided to pursue an AA degree. I got general admission to Purdue and am now doing first-year engineering courses (physics, basic engineering sciences, etc.). However, I do not like it in the Midwest and would like to transfer to UW, but I don’t know how realistic it would be. I also have way too many credits (more than 90 quarter credits although most won’t apply to an engineering degree since I pursued an AA degree not AS).

Chance me:
-3.1 GPA over my college career (very low I know)
-lots of volunteering/involvement ECs but none are engineering or science related (mostly community service)
-worked an on-campus job at CC
-played sports in HS (outside the US tho)
-Washington state AA degree

Is it even possible at this point to transfer to UW mechanical engineering for fall 2018? The average GPA of admitted transfer students for ME is 3.6. What can I do to increase my chances?

Keep in mind if I do end up applying, I have to submit my transcripts before February, so I this semester is my only chance of raising my grades before I send transcripts to UW. That probably wouldn’t do much though even if I get straight A’s, I would just probably raise my GPA to a 3.2-3.3.

If you want to make sure you get back to Washington, put in multiple applications. Maybe UW Bothell, WSU, and/or Central? There’s more than one engineering school in Washington!

Yeah but the only good engineering school is UW Seattle…

Do you want to risk being stuck in Indiana because you didn’t pick some backup schools?

Actually, I just realized that my AA degree comes with direct transfer agreements with many WA universities, including WSU and all three UW campuses. But the thing is for UW Seattle, a lot of restrictions apply which come as no surprise. UW Seattle is pretty much the top school in WA. They don’t let any old idiot enter the engineering program. Although my preference would be WA, I am also looking into other schools in the west coast. As a minority, the lack of diversity in the midwest overwhelms me.
