how hard to get into honors program?

i meet the qualifications and i want to apply, but how selective are they? do most of the people who qualify with scores get in? and i have no idea what to write my essay about UGH

How old are you? (Are you a senior who's already been admited to UCLA and now wants to get into the Honors program for freshman year?--in which case it's too late for now. Are you a HS junior who wants to shoot for honors college when you apply next fall? Or are you already a UCLA student who wants to apply, in which case check with your counselor.) My D got into honors program and it was completely transparent to her--she didn't explicitly apply at all. Kids at her HS who got in had SATs over 1450, weighted GPAs well over 4.0, and wrote adequate--not necessarily brilliant--essays.

From his post it sounds like he's someone who's already been admitted to UCLA.

If it's too late to apply for freshman year, you can apply after you've started at UCLA if you obtain a 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA. As far as I know, most of the people who meet the qualifications will get in.

On a side note, most people drop honors sooner or later, and a lot of people also apply for honors just to get priority enrollment for a few quarters before dropping it. Being in honors at UCLA isn't really considered that big of a deal, because it frankly isn't that great compared to honors programs at some other schools (UCI for example).

yeah im already in at ucla and have to submit my essay by may 2. oh and im a girl, haha. so it doesnt sound too tough....hopefully it works out cause this essays a basifhasdiofh!OP&E(W&*E

What is the Honors program? I think Admitted students for fall'05 have to apply by 2nd May,THE DEADLINE HAS NOT PASSED,YET.
But, what is this prog?
Can engg. majors at Ucla apply for this?

can someone give me link of where to sign uP?

I believe that it's only offered for UCLA College (L&S)...and I think it's linked on MyBruin.

i went to college honors day and they made it sound like basically everyone who qualifies and applies gets in. however a lot less people actually maintain their grades/take the right classes so they get dropped from the program. you can always get back in though if you make up watever you missed. the app is due on may 2nd...although at the moment i'm not quite sure where the app is either o_O

Just thought I'd add that the Dean (Director? dunno) of the Honor's Program at LA is super nice. Like, really really nice.

I have a couple friends who are in the program now (as transfers. automatically accepted since they were in the CCC honors program) who really, really like it. Another friend is a recent graduate who did Honors at LA and he said joining it was the best choice he made there. It helped him out tons with getting a job and making connections and stuff.

cool, sounds great.

for those wondering, it's not for Engineering, just L&S and the app can be found on the MyBruin website after u get a ucla pw/ID and all that :)

MyBruin

MyUCLA, you mean...

I just checked the website and the honors application is due June 1st 2005, so no worries you haven't missed the deadline!

it says may 2....where does it say june 1? cause that would be awesome...and yeah sorry I meant myUCLA :)

Honors prog. is not for Engineers, Right?
Are there any benefits if I join; like to get a job, contacts,...?

It's only for College of Arts and Sciences I believe.

Does anyone know how long the essay is supposed to be? I was somehow under the impression 250 words, but now that I look at it on MyUCLA, it doesn't say how long.

What is the Honors Program? Sorry I am clueless.

abc123def-

if you are in college of L&S, and meet a certain requirement with GPA and/or SAT scores, you can apply for the Honors program by writing an essay. you will get priority in registering for classes and housing, and u also take special honors courses. but u have to maintain a 3.5 to stay in.

when is a?ll this due by
