How hard to land research position via URAP?

I am applying for URAP for Spring semester for labs in biological/health sciences. I am a sophomore and I have a very high GPA, but I have NO research experience whatsoever, so I fear this will put me at a big disadvantage. Does anyone with past URAP experience have any advice? How do I make the most of my statements of interest?

Thanks a ton!

Another question… if we are directly contacting professors, where can we find the articles that are cited on their profiles if we want to read them? I can only find abstracts of the articles online.

Here is how you access your professors’ journal articles:

[Connecting from Off Campus-The Library-University of California, Berkeley](<a href=“Wrong shelf. | UC Berkeley Library”>Wrong shelf. | UC Berkeley Library)

once you’ve configured your browser, you can log in with your calnet ID and view stuff that the school has access to.

Depends on the demand, the closer they are to premed-y stuff the higher the demand.

Does anyone have the statistics on the % of people who find a position through URAP?

Also if you’re contacting the professors directly, how do you know that they are looking for undergraduates for research.

Cupola, thank you SO MUCH.

SoCaliii, you don’t know which professors are looking for undegrads. But I figure if you contact enough professors, someone’s gotta reply… maybe. Haha.
