Hi everyone I just curious about classes at UT Austin, since I have a plan to transfer to UT. Is it hard to get A in science classes at UT? Thanks a lot for all answer, and advise.

UT classes are not easy. The data for non-cap transfers you seek start at Table 6. The mean GPA for ENTERING soph transfers is 3.72. For CAP, the transfer GPA was 3.61. The mean UT GPA for transfer students after the soph year is 3.01; 2.02 for CAP. The 4.0 point plus/minus grading grade (C+ is 2.3) can really cause some anxiety. For instance, an 89.9 class grade in most classes is a B+ = 3.3. In a lot of schools, it would be rounded up to 90 = A = 4.0.
Here’s some more data on UT GPAs by class. https://sp.austin.utexas.edu/sites/ut/rpt/Documents/IMA_S_GpaUGColClassGen_2013_Fall.pdf
Good luck, and HOOK’EM!
Should be 3.02 for CAP sophs.
Okay I transferred and last semester was my first semester at UT. The classes are NOT easy, you really have to put in your full effort and you might not get the grade you think you deserve anyway.
The science classes are even more difficult. (Do not get me started on math!)
That being said, it is possible, but do not be alarmed if you do not do well your first semester, as that is common within all transfers.
I got a 2.0 my first semester. My second semester I got a 3.6. I’m a Kinesiology major (I changed from bio).
Good luck.
I think it really depends on the professors you choose and how much effort you will be putting into your classes, but overall classes at UT are pretty challenging. I have a 3.9 and I wouldn’t say it’s because of anything that’s related to my intelligence, I’ve seen some people here at UT who are really smart but couldn’t maintain a good GPA. I just work hard on my homework and don’t skip any lecture… so personally speaking I think many classes are difficult but not impossible
