<p>Last year, the transfer rate of acceptance was under 3%. Tough.</p>
<p>I was accepted as a transfer this year. Then again, I was accepted my senior year of HS, even though I originally turned down the offer for personal reasons. As a result, my transfer essay centered around how I thought I had passed on such an extraordinary opportunity.</p>
<p>For what it’s worth though, I had a 3.825 GPA in liberal arts courses at Vanderbilt. These courses also reflected my academic interests, which I argued could be better fulfilled at Harvard.</p>
<p>@waylay00: Thanks so much for your post! When you made your transfer application how many recommendations did you end up getting? Did you get them all/most from your college professors? </p>
<p>I am a little worried since I don’t know if one year would enable me to get strong enough relationships with my professors to write letter of recommendations powerful enough to transfer into Harvard.</p>
<p>Is it typical for students to use their H.S. teachers recommendations in the college transfer process?</p>
<p>I just got two recommendations, one from a professor and one from a TA. I wouldn’t advise using high school recs in the transfer process in lieu of recommendations from profs/TAs though. If you wanted to throw an additional recommendation, then it probably wouldn’t be as much of a problem. Then again, I’ve never worked for an admissions office, so I can’t say for sure.</p>

<p>so if I were to transfer into Harvard would they put more weight into my curriculum, grades, and ecs of high school or from college because when I send in my high school grades I am wondering if I can just do that through my college’s network rather than going back to high school when they are so busy.</p>
<p>also, would you say that transferring makes it harder to complete Harvard requirements and may have to potentially stay an extra semester?</p>
