How hard will it be to double major?

When I go to college I want to major in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. Will be hard to do these two majors at once and how long will take me to graduate if I did double major at a private university? The reason why I want to double major is because I can't decide whether being a doctor or an engineer? Can someone give me some advice?

More effort and less reward than it’s worth.
Given your suggestion, I recommend ChemE undergrad with bio-heavy electives, and apply to med school if after 4 years you decide you want to be a doctor.

If you only want the chemistry major to strengthen your application to medical schools, trying doing ChE (or BME is popular too, but that’s your choice) with a pre-med track. There are often specific courses that you must have taken for medical school that you can fit within an engineering degree. It’s also worth noting that biology is a much more popular pre-med track than chemistry if you decide to go for medical school.

Since you are still in high school, you may not be aware that many, many students change their direction multiple times while they are in college. Adults change careers too as they journey through life. Right now it seems like you think your life will go in one of two directions. You may want to choose a college that offers a broad range of majors. If, while you are in college, you still think you want to go to medical school, you should contact several medical schools and see what college courses they require. My son goes to a small engineering school. Each year one or more graduates attends medical school afte graduation. I hope this helps.
