I’m still very new and I think it’s been incredibly helpful.This is a VAST resource of knowledge from people who know firsthand. As with anything, don’t take everything at face value but most folks on here seem to be trying to help out.
I only find it annoying when “can you afford it” is ONLY suggestion in the response. If a comment addresses the OP’s concerns and then mentions “don’t forget to check the financials if you have a budget” that is great and important If however, the comment is only about cost, it can seem a bit condescending. I think most people understand that college is expensive, but also agree there are many that think there are more scholarship opportunities than there actually are, especially at the most selective colleges, or that somehow it will work out even if they have to borrow.
