"How have you used the money you earned?"

This was a question on the UC app pertaining to money made from employment.

Is it okay or acceptable if I said that I used the money to take my grandmother out to dinner every week and help pay for a summer program I really wanted to go to?

I didn't have a saintly cause really such as feeding the poor, but yeah.

thats fine/honest

I think you should answer the question honestly. If you used the money in that way say so. I don't think you are expected to help feed the poor or something.

:) I think those reasons are excellent in itself!

Yeah they really are. Putting something like "feeding the poor," even if it was true, wouldn't be better than those! They show that you are a nice person, and that you're not some rich kid who went to a summer program on his parents' money. Kudos to you

I really like the grandma part. :) That's really nice of you.

I think I put down that I'm saving it for college needs and entertainment (i.e. dorm supplies, movies, concerts when I go to college)...probably a little cliched.

Say you burned it in garbage cans for the winter to provide heat for homeless people.

sir watson, that is one of the funniest responses ive heard in a long time.

i think its better to be honest and sincere than to make up stuff. you want the admissions to get a sense of who you are not a person you made up and they can tell when you are sincere and when you are lying

Thank you Shark_Bite, even though I am a surfer and fear you.

i'm gonna mention going to boston and going to europe, but not college app fees, because that implies I'm applying to a lot. and though I am, I want to make whoever reads this feels special :-). hehehe...
