How important are AP/IB's?

AdmissionsDaniel-
I am a US citizen living in India, and my school doesn't offer IBs. It is an extremely competitive school, and it follows the CBSE education system. Also, in the CBSE board, all students have to take the prescribed curriculum, so there is no question of one taking a tougher course load than another. Will my inability to take AP/IB courses and tougher courses in comparison to my peers put me at a disadvantage in the admissions process?

Thanks for your time!

In a word, NO! When reviewing a student’s application we review it based on the educational system of the school the student attends. We do not require AP/IB coursework to admit a student. Every transcript is sent with a high school profile which provides us with the information that we need to review the educational curriculum of each student. As well, we have much experience with the CBSE system so there is nothing to be concerned about.

Thanks! That’s quite a relief! I’ve got one more question, if u don’t mind. I’m not sure, but it might be possible for me to sign up for an IB test on my own. Would u recommend I study for it on my own, in addition to my current courses, or ignore it altogether?

Once again, thanks for your invaluable advice.

Your choice … sorry but I do not provide such advice. You might want to speak with your school’s guidance counselor.
