How important are SAT/ACT scores for top privates?

I have a 4.0 GPA currently at my CC as I enter my second year. I've been told my EC's are enough for top publics. However, I'm a bit hesitant to apply to top privates like Georgetown, Cornell, Northwestern, because my SAT and ACT scores were both horrible, being 1680 and 26 respectively. My HS GPA was only a 3.0 UW and 3.7W. I feel like I have proven by getting a 4.0 that I can handle a collegiate academic environment, which is what the SAT is designed to test you for.

Also, I know these schools are hard enough to get into even with good SAT scores, but I think I may as well try.

Any opinions?

Yes! You should apply to transfer, a 4.0 gpa is looked well at anywhere, even at a community college. Im sorry I have no idea how the transfer process is though so i cant determine anything. Good luck!

facepalm why make a second post about the same issue? Cornell does not require SAT and ACT for transfers. Georgetown and Northwestern require it and transfer applicants often apply with similar test scores to the admitted freshman classes except it is more competitive because of limited spots. UNC is the way to go for you.
