isn't that data from the collegeboard website? if it is, i've seen it before, and my interpretation is that the first column is saying score, second column says how many people got that score of everyone in the world who took the sat, and third column says percentile that that score represents. unless it is not from collegeboard, what is the connection between this data and dartmouth admissions?</p>
<p>I too agree good scores are probably an important, but far from a determinative factor. Sorry, i'm not trying to be difficult, i'm just a little confused!</p>

<p>^ Yes, the data on SAT percentiles is from the CEEB (specific document name is referred to in the post) and you have read it correctly. </p>
<p>The relationship to Dartmouth is simply this. Dartmouth, like many top schools, draws its student, by in large, from the top 3% of all test takers. These test takers score highly and are, by definition, a relatively select group.</p>
<p>I was simply trying to reinforce the point that high SAT scores, specifically those in the 97% percentile, and above are an important attribute in the mix.</p>

<p>Does anyone know the importance of the writing section from the ACT. I did poorly on the writing but well on everything else.</p>
<p>^This is above my paygrade. I am not sure there is enough experience with the ACTs at Dartmouth to generalize nor a lot of folks on CC to address this. Perhaps, a recent D graduate who has worked on the adcom could help.</p>
