I scored a composite score of 35 on the ACT, but my superscores are 35 writing, 35 math, 36 reading, and 33 science. Essay is 11/12, although my reach colleges do not require. I am debating on retaking the ACT because my science score is poor and I’m unsure how colleges (aiming for Columbia and NYU, please take this into consideration in your response) will view my 35s in math and writing. Please advise.
Your score of 33 in science is fantastic. Your composite is amazing. No college in the country is going to reject you becasue of your test score. This sounds like a humble brag. Please find more productive things to do with your time than retake a test that puts you in the 99th percentile.
do not retake it, you have amazing scores.
just build your application around your SPIKE. if you are interested in programming, then build your app around your coding achievements.
dont try to be well rounded student, that makes you indistiguishable from other applicants. focus on max 3 activites, but make sure you have GREAT accomplishments already, if not you still have time to develop a spike!
congrats on those scores once again and GL!
