How important are the SAT II's in admissions?

Specifically considering UC Berkeley, UCLA, USC, UW, Stanford, and Yale.

I took them in November and am debating whether to retake the Subject tests ( as I don't think I did very well) or to retake the normal SAT (score of 2230, but math was only 670),

I'm fairly certain my subject tests would be mid to high 600's as my nose started bleeding, I ran out of time, etc... I would like to retake them but also want to improve my normal SAT score of 670.

How important are the subject tests in admissions in comparison to the normal SAT?
Any advice?

2230 is much better than high 600s in the subject tests. Retake the subject tests in my opinion

For UC Berkeley and UCLA you should assume they are just as important as SAT (for minimums needed to be considered total SAT and two SAT II scores are added together seemingly making SAT more important but writing score in SAT is really considered the replacement of old SAT II writing). For Yale they are very important and probably as close to importance as SAT. For USC and Stanford they are of much less importance than SAT and in fact neither actually requires IIs, but recommends them. For UW (regardeless of whether you are referring to Washington, Wisconsin, or Wyoming), they are pointless because those schools do not use IIs for admission.

I just called a top public university to ask this very question.

BEcause my student had only taken the SAT 1 once, we were advised that it should be taken again. The quesion we had was whether to re-take the SAT 1 in December or else an SAT II test that he thinks he scored around high-500s on when taken in early November. Of course, he may have scored higher on that SAT II test, but he feels he didn't do well on it.

thanks everyone, I've decided to retake the subject tests, and also retake the ACT in place of the normal SAT.

Do well! =]
