How important are the SAT subject tests?

Obviously for schools that don't require them they count for very little

But for schools that require them I've heard conflicting reports

Some say its valued less than GPA, Rank, SAT, and even ECs

Some say they are very important

Some say they don't believe they are even considered for admission (outside the ivies), and are more so for placement.

I tend to agree with the first theory - I think they are considered, but aren't heavily valued. Mainly because lets say your applying for the school of business at a school, and you are forced to take 2 subject tests, there aren't any business related subject tests.

By some, do you mean different schools or the same schools with different admissions officers/whoever it is saying those things.

Different schools have different ideas on how important the SAT Subject Tests are, even if the they’re required at all those different schools.

On the other hand, if you mean that different representatives of the same college are saying different things…er…
Well, take at least the Math 2 just in case. It’s more or less the test that’s required everywhere, from what I’ve seen.
