Are SAT subject tests really that important to colleges, or are they just another thing to add to a resume?
Because I am thinking about taking some this fall, and I’m wondering if they are a waste of time or not. Thanks!
@ryanalexander116 Some schools require 1, 2, or 3 subjects tests to even be considered for admission. So if you are applying to any of those types of colleges, taking those exams is a must! However, studying and taking subject tests for schools that don’t require them is a waste of time.
If you are just a super whiz in a certain subject, and don’t have to study much at all, sure why not show the admissions officers what you know.
Some colleges require them, but from what I know, as long as you score in a certain range they don’t play much weight in admissions.
@MattyCRaps Couldn’t I take one in an area I possibly might major in though? To me, it seems that taking one would look a lot better than not taking one.
That depends on whether the school recommends them or not. If one of your colleges recommends them, go ahead, but at schools where they’re just “considered if submitted” their weight is very small and they will not be expected.
