hey guys, i was jus wondering, if you get say 1460-1490 on the SATs but i dun break the 1500 mark, are you viewed in the same light as the 1500s applicants?

Well, do you look at a 1500 and a 1490 as basically the same, even though they're only 10 points apart?

I don't.

Well it can't hurt or actually help. In my discussions with a family friend regarding VCU interviews, I was shocked about how so many kids with 1500+ didnt get one. She said they do it a lot, mainly because they feel that the students dont necessarily need or want to go to VCU. They apply to it as a safety so to speak. They reject them because they are confident that with their scores and such, they could get in anywhere. So don't feel too bad. I've already gotten two interveiws with some medical programs and I have a 1410, but I'm proud of that score.

I have a 1450 and I am very proud of it. A 1500 is not that different. Most programs look to see that you have good scores, for some that may be a 1350+. Regardless, they view you more as a person in my opinion than a score. They rather accept a great student than a great score.

wow 202 ppl read this and only 3 respond, thanks guys

well i see a 1500+ as a point that a lot of your competition is going to have
i was happy with my 1450, but im sure it would have helped to have a 1500+ when applying to these programs. its always luck and a crap shot, but i still hope
-there..a reply

I'd say a 1500 removes any reason to rject you based on ability to do the work. It's a threshold, but not a ticket in to the IVY levl schools.
