My GPA was lowest during my junior year unfortunately. I consider this to be due to some medical issues I was having that caused me to miss quite a few days due to doctors appointments and such. I did not mention this in my essay or additional info, I thought it might seem like a dumb excuse at the time. It didn’t wreck my cumulative GPA, my GPA is well within range for what most of my top schools are accepting, I am just curious that if they look at how my junior year was my worst, they will see it as a drawback. My ACT score is 31 and that’s above the average for nearly all the schools I’m applying for.
Junior year is often considered the most important year and colleges really, really like upward trends. So long as it wasn’t major (meaning you went from say a 3.8 to like a 3.72) I think you’ll be fine, but it was something like going down from a 3.8 to a 3.5 or lower then I’d say it would be an issue. Not a major one, it wouldn’t be a massive detriment, but it certainly wouldn’t aide you.
When applying for colleges they often have places where you can explain changes in your grades. There you can explain the fall in GPA due to health issues.
@Badgers21 Okay that’s good to know! Luckily it didn’t do my overall average a whole lot of harm. My course load this year is INTENSE so hopefully colleges like that as well
