As I heard, there are so many considered factor in US college admission. Is AP as significant as the other factors?
The sheer number of APs taken does not matter.
But if taking APs maximizes course rigor at your school and you get good grades in these classes, then it is pretty significant.
I’m a south korean and my HS didn’t offer AP or honor class. Actually, almost HS students in my country don’t have chance to choose class (there are only one side things). So can it hurt my chances?
You should take the most rigorous program offered at your HS. FWIW a number of US high schools don’t offer APs and the student do fine in terms of college admissions.
You have multiple other posts. If you took the most rigorous curriculum when you were in HS that should not be a problem. The bigger issue is that you dropped out of university in Korea, you are concerned about your ability to get teacher recommendations, and you feel your English skills are not great. It is exceedingly difficult to transfer into a top US university, especially if you are seeking a full ride or close to it.
Check on https://educationusa.state.gov/ for an advising center for your country to get info on applying to US colleges.
Thanks for sincere comment. Well, there weren’t any class division and only one class in my HS (It is same on almost HS in south korea). So I’m concerning on it.
Also, I’ve changed my thought. I’ve been studying TOEFL and been searching proper activities. If I would do well and find decent EC, I will prep SAT and US college freshman admission (of course, it’s only available to colleges which don’t consider me as transfer applicant). Because transfer application is more competitive as you mentioned.
Or if it wouldn’t work well, I will do my undergrad in SK and seek US grad program.
BTW, Is it annoying that I wrote many post in this board for you or the others? I’m really sorry If it is.
I forgot to mention: I won’t aim for only top school. Getting into college that gives financial aid for me is my aim.
Needless to say, it will be also diffcult…
It is very difficult for even for American transfer students to get merit aid. I think your best bet would be to focus on completing your undergraduate degree in SK.
