I know admissiondaniels wants us to all take this easy, but I need to start looking out for good laptop deals. So heres the question. How important is it for laptops to have large battery life. Do students at JHU use laptops in class or away from the dorm with no power input, or is the laptop usually in the dorms where the student always has a power supply so that battery life isn't all that important.

So what I'm asking is, how do JHU students use their laptops.

There is always an outlet in the dorms. There are outlets almost everywhere in the library and more are being added. The new buildings (Hudson hall ect..) have outlets all over the place. However, even if your trapped in a room with no outlet, your not going to use a laptop for more then one class at the very most every day. Almost all laptops have adequate battery life.

so I shouldn't need to care too much about battery life? How long would you say is more than enough battery life. 4 hours? 3 hours?

oh and do JHU students carry their laptops around a lot? Is laptop weight any concern?

btw, I'm premed.

Most students do not carry laptops around. The only class I ever see people using them in is Bio 101 because the instuctors use powerpoint ever class.

3-4 hours will be plenty.
