How important is College Location for the Business Major

<p>I am looking to go into some aspect of Business and was wondering what everyone thought about how important the location of the college is for potential internships, etc. </p>

<p>St. Peter's (NJ) offered me $16,000 and is located right near the Hudson River and is no more than 15 minutes from NYC. </p>

<p>St. Peter's College (NJ) is probably not as highly ranked for undergraduate business compared to several other schools I have been accepted to but I have read that they have a good internship program and are respected around the NY/NJ area.</p>

<p>Am I wrong to favor this school because of its proximity to the business world?</p>

<p>Depends what your other choices are. As an employer with ‘business’ jobs in NYC, I’ve never heard of this school.</p>

<p>Well I have read that they are nationally ranked as far as internship/co-op programs. It is a small school of <3000.</p>

<p>As hmom said, I would not go. But it’s up to you. Ask some of the students there - stay over a night, experience what it’s like, if the average IQ is up to par. :p</p>

<p>I’m not negative, I’m just saying I’ve worked at a large bank in NYC for 30 years and never heard of this school. Does not mean it’s not good!</p>

<p>The thing I would closely look at is what jobs and salaries recent graduates got. A visit to their career center should get you this info. Remember at any of the companies above, jobs range from janitor, to admin assistant to banker/accountant.</p>
