I am really interested in studying international relations at GT and I know it’s a very well known program.
I also speak 3 languages fluently and am learning 2 more though; I was wondering if it would be a good idea to hear my application/major towards that. I know a lot less people apply for language majors so would it be beneficial in an admissions standpoint? Would it make it any easier to get in? (I’m hoping to apply this fall).
Please don’t apply to a specific major in hopes of having a bigger chance of getting in. That’s just not how it works. Georgetown is a tough school to get in. If you want to get in, then work hard instead of looking for a shortcut/trick.

kaylagarcia529,
There is nothing wrong with acting strategically.
Just do so for the right reasons. Don’t ask what may or may not benefit candidates generally. Focus instead on what major best suits your background and intellectual passions.
Given your fluency in three languages, you have an excellent background to be a language major. But that background by itself won’t suffice unless you also have a genuine passion to major in another language Georgetown offers.
Do you have that passion? Can you communicate it in a compelling way? If so, apply to major in that language. If not, choose another major or apply with an undeclared major.
Finally, don’t forget the obvious: your proposed major will be just one of many factors determining your admission to Georgetown. So spend this spring and summer improving every aspect of your application. And work hard to make good grades next fall.
Good luck!
If everything else is top notch and languages are your thing not at all bad to highlight it as a strength and through your ecs. I recall there was a young man this year who self studied Arabic and got involved in ecs that demonstrated this language gift and he got into sfs. But it is a whole package. And make sure it is what you really want to study intensely for 4 years and maybe grad school And for 30 to 40 years after college. It has to be genuine.
It is not easy to switch colleges at Georgetown, so apply to the College that you want to attend–e.g. the College v. SFS.
