In particular, how important is demonstrated interest for the School of Computer Science?
I did do an alumni interview, but I’ve never visited campus. I live about 3 hours away.
I did attend a meeting at my school, when the admissions officer came to visit, and I signed up/requested additional info plus wrote the supplemental essay.
Thanks
@joshuascreams According to a Common Data Set from 2012-2013, Carnegie Mellon ranks demonstrated interest as important, the same rank as the essays, talent, alumni relations, and applicant’s race/ethnicity, among many other things. To put that in perspective, there are 4 rankings - very important, important, considered, not considered. GPA, academic record, test scores, and class rank are considered very important.
Three hours away - visit and experience the campus. Also encourage you to do the sleeping bag weekend to see if CMU is a fit. Also would give your parents, if they chose, an opportunity to explore Pittsburgh and be comfortable with the CMU setting.
Unfortunately CMU isn’t offering any more tours, and I tried to book the overnight weekend but it was already all full!
I don’t know if there’s anything else I can do to demonstrate interest at this point.
@MandomeLife Would you say that I’ve demonstrated enough interest to get by?
I think you are okay. If you don’t get in, it won’t be for that reason.
