Just curious, because a classmate I found out last night got into 2 schools I was waitlisted in, and from everything I know, I am a slightly stronger student and unless she was lying about your scores, did not fare well with her scores, but she is also one of the richest kids in this state so we all know there was no aid requested at all, and so far she seems to have gotten into a number of schools that she applied to, but also got some rejections. So...........although this is a question I have never pondered, how weighty is it to a school when a applicant is not asking for any assistance whatsoever? Does it matter, even to a school well endowed? Just curious if that played a part cuz I was really quite surprised and it really left me thinking, then a friend of mine brought up maybe because she didn't apply for any aid....what do you think?

If she is one of the richest kids in your state it's probably more about her connections. But at non need blind schools, being able to pay full freight helps lots.

I'd have to agree....colleges often look for developmental candidates, which gives them a boost.

It is unfortunate. Brown, Carleton, Smith and some others did/do pay attention for the last 5-10% of their class, although they usually meet need.

Just my opinion.
IB

i am pretty sure the fact that i didnt apply for aid is why i got into northeastern and usanfran despite not giving them a full application.
