No Financial Aid? Does it help?

If someone is applying to NYU and they do not ask for financial aid, does it help their chances, or not affect it at all?

I wouldn't mind knowing this too. I hope it doesn't.

they say it doesn't...but i'll be damned if it does matter somewhat...

I'm sure it has some significance (albeit only a little). Most of the students end up paying close to full price anyway, what with NYU's "financial aid" consisting primarily of loans. So I don't think it really matters whether you request it or not.

Well, if the admissions committee doesn't know, it wouldn't.

I just visited a few days ago, and the admissions guy said they were need-blind admissions, so not applying for financial aid can really only hurt you because you will get nothing.

usually schools have the financial aid office separate from the admissions office so that it truly is need-blind, but i bet admissions is corrupt. i'm pretty sure during break they're like "oh yea you read up on joe smith? hes rich!"
