How important is religion to you?

I’m an extremely devout and pious Pastaforian, and it annoys me when others try to impose their views on me.

My religion is one of great secrey due to religious intolerance by the media, Christians, and people in general.

Basically, we Pastaforians believe in an entity known as the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Spaghetti is sacred to us and we must consume it or other forms of noodles at least three times a week.

The evidence is all over the planet, seriously. Archeologists discovered 5,000 year old noodles in China.

Pastafarian? You can’t even spell your own religion right.

I’m a somewhat religious Jain. I really should be more religious…

yeah…i don’t really believe in god or religion.

ahhh AP bio and christianity confuses me. All of my evolution studying is conflicting with God. (no offense to any1 out there)

As expected, a lot of people on here aren’t religious…

I’m an atheist. So, yeah, religion doesn’t play a big part. But I’m very knowledgeable about some religions (I have to be to defeat them in debate, lol). I’d say I know MUCH more about Christianity and the Bible than most Christians.

Can we all have a moment of silence for Tsen…

Nah, not at all, really. I don’t think one has to believe in a deity to live the life of a contributory, kind, and intelligent humanitarian. Saying so-

bows to Tsen lol

well I believe in a god that’s a giant Scarlet Macaw. I pray to it daily, and offer it sacrifices of nuts and seeds, for sharing with the other avians in the area, just as this lonely parrot once offered its dinner to the local birds too.

according to my religion, scarlet macaws go to heaven, as do many avian species and preferred mammalian and reptilian species. but most humans will go to purgatory.

I’m too lazy to be devout though. If I were, I’d go on Crusades into the Amazon rainforest and then go out to stall human development there.

I have mixed feelings. I was raised Catholic, but my knowledge of science and logic really inhibits any hope I have for believing in god.
I had a bumper sticker that said “W.W.P.D.-What would physics do” but my dad made me take it off my car because it would make my mom really upset.

I’m a combative atheist.

I hate religion.

^ Lord created you. Respect him.

^The thing is, he doesn’t believe in God.

I’m not trying to defend him since I don’t concur with his views. Even though I’m not religious in the practical sense, I think religion can be an amazing thing and it saves a lot of people.

People should be more tolerant.

^I almost forgot.

CCism :]

Christianity: I am a Christian.

CCism: I am a CCist.

*Can I be both?

^ ccist.

Tsen

Ohh…I thought so, but I wasn’t sure.

Tsenists unite!!

@Monoclide, # 30

Yeah…I’m a bit of the “combative atheist” as well, but internally combative. I get out my frustrations by ranting with fellow atheists and reading atheist blogs (like Pharyngula and the Friendly Atheist, among others). More recently, though, I have gotten into skepticism, which is a great way to integrate being atheist and not believing what people tell you on face value. Skeptics Guide to the Universe is a great resource, as are all of its affiliated blogs.

But, to answer the question of the thread: No religion here. As someone I know said earlier today, “No higher power has ever been involved in my life, and no higher power ever will be.” However, my lack of religion is exceedingly important in my life. I consider it part of who I am, one of my defining aspects. If I were to become religious, I would no longer be me.

I’m combative even with fellow atheists. Some of them fight for the wrong reasons. And most of them are just bitter anti-Christians or anti-Catholics.

After debating supernatural entities and existence on a metaphysical level several times - I’ve given up the idea that mainstream atheism has any merit.

There are several arguments and ideas that are irrational and those that are pure. We can look at agnosticism or absurdism as pure ideas - they are rational and “correct.” Atheism is an irrational argument as for there is no clear basis and it defies and rejects certain metaphysical properties (such as existence), however, it is completely subjective and there is no objective truth - thus my argument stands with just as much merit as a pure one.
