How important is the ACT Writing Score?

I recently received my ACT scores:

Composite: 35
English: 35
Maths: 35
Reading: 32
Science: 36

This is obviously a good score. However, then I got my writing score which was an 8, making my combined English/Writing Score a 31. I checked the percentiles, and it says that a combined English/Writing Score of 31 is the 98th percentile, so still very good. What I am wondering about is just how important the individual writing score is, which in my case is just above average. I checked some websites which list the ACT scores for the Ivy League universities, and they only show the composite scores. Could a score of 8 negatively impact an application to an Ivy League university?

Same here:

Composite: 35
English: 34
Math: 36
Reading: 33
Science: 36

Writing score of 8 with a combined Eng/Wr of 31. I’m hoping the same as you that they don’t think much about the ACT writing especially since it doesn’t factor into the Composite score.

The funny thing is I rec’d a 790 on the SAT writing score. 790 on multiple choice with an 11 on the essay!

I’m submitting both ACT and SAT scores!
