How influential is the interview?

I am in a really tough situation. 6 girls from my school, which never sends students to any good schools other than the public ones in the state, are applying to wellesley. Im an URM, but there is another girl who is also an URM and from what i have heard our profiles are very similar even though I have slightly higher grades. If I have a great interview would that increase my chances of admission over her? ( it is very unlikely wellesley will take the two or 6 of us)

FWIW, 3 or 4 girls, none URM, from my D’s HS (very large public HS) applied to Wellesley 2 years ago. Three were admitted. Good luck to you!

Wellesley only considers your interview. It’s honestly not a huge part of the admissions process at all. It’s more for you to ask questions about the school.

And 4 girls from my school applied last year, and 2 got in. So it is possible for both of you to get in. As long as you wrote a good essay, you should be fine. Good luck :)

i think the interview was one of the big reason why i got in. The interviewer had many things similar to me and right after the interview she invited me to an alumni party…

Personally, I didn’t have an interview. It’s really up to your application as a whole. And there are many schools that have multiple students per year at Wellesley. Don’t fret.

I was completely surprised by how awesome the alum was during my interview. She was very passionate about Wellesley, energetic, and seemed very interested in learning more about me.

I wouldn’t worry too much about the number of students. I went to a school that only sent one girl to an Ivy League school, and everyone else went to the local University. It ended up that one of my really good friends from high school lived on the same floor as me my freshman year.

Waiting for the decision is tough, but sometimes you just have to realize that all you can do is let go and let the magic happen. Good luck!

I was accepted ED, and I just found out that two girls from my school and one from a neighboring school are applying to Wellesley RD. We’re also from a small town where everyone goes to the state univ, so this is really unusual. I expected to be the only one from my area. I’m estatic that these girls are applying to Wellesley (truly, I know they’d be fantastic students there), but at the same time…I was nervous for them. I’ve decided to just have faith in the admissions process and hope that Wellesley appreciates their qualities too. I really believe that Wellesley will take the time to differentiate between them, and I’m sure that the same will happen in your case  Also, take Catsushi’s perspective to heart; she’s absolutely right. At this point the application is out of your hands, you’ve done all you can (I’m sure your interview was great!), so enjoy the rest of your senior year. Good luck :)

5 of 5 girls (or it could’ve been 6 of 6) applying to Wellesley from my large public hs last year were accepted. I don’t think your app will be compared specifically to hers. You’ll be fine.
Good luck! (:
