How is Asian American Studies R2B?

I'm in BioE right now and planning to focus on Cell & Tissue Eng, but there may be a chance that I go pre-med instead. I'm looking for an easy R&C course that will satisfy the 2nd half, since I already got the first one out of the way.

i took it. it was hella easy, but that's because i knew the professor from a previous class i took at berkeley. i'd say any of the r&c classes are easy, not including most of the english, comp lit, and rhetoric classes. this means the german, asian american, southeast asian, etc....are all easy options for you.

question... i'm taking chinese 7a to fulfill the R&C B for the CoE, as it's on the yellow list they gave us at calso... but on the course catalog, it doesn't say anything about fulfilling any requirements? is this normal (asian american studies r2b says it does...)

Chinese 7a does NOT qualify as an R&C B class for students in the College of Letters and Sciences. Since it is not generally suitable, the catalog does not list it. The CoE pamphlet on their breadth requirements lists Chinese 7a as exclusively qualified for CoE students to cover the B requirement. Thus it is a special exception for engineering students only. See page 2 of this document - http://coe.berkeley.edu/students/current-undergraduates/advising/hssreq.pdf

okay, so i'm good as long as I don't decide to switch to a L&S major?

Yes, if you switched to L&S then you would need to take another R&C B course. In the CoE, you are good to go.

How come some R&C courses have finals and others dont?

thanks for the reply, rider. kinda bummed that i didn't look more into the r&c courses earlier... seems like there are a lot of courses that satisfy l&s AND CoE while having ridiculously high percentages of A's that are now full. oh well.

There are always future semesters - should be plenty of R&C B courses in Spring since that fits the 'normal' pattern for students taking both A & B in sequence.

yeah, that's true. i've already added chinese 7a, and even though i am waitlisted in it, i don't really have a class to replace it. i think i'll just stick with it - i don't plan on majoring in anything other than engineering

aw man... they're all full :[

should I just wait till 2nd semester and have an easyish 1st sem. or try to find another?
