How is Beijing University?

Don't laugh. How is that college? lol.

if you're talking about 北京大学 or 北大 (Peking University), then I can tell you it's really prestigious and well known in china. basically equivalent to how well known and respected harvard is in the US.

Peking University is probably the flagship school of the mainland, and incredibly selective.

Peking University and Tsinghua University. Tsinghua may be No.1 selective.

education at china is taken more seriously is at a completely different level than education here in the U.S.

High schoolers take about 9 hrs a day after school studying their brains out for the big college acceptance tests (which we don't have here, They are NOT SATs), and those tests basically determine everything.

Think of those tests as SATs, except they get tested in basically every subject (not just English, Math, Writing), including Chinese and English. Also there is no "second chances or retests," what they score is what they score. So if a student gets unlucky and gets a fever that day, he/she still takes the test under blistering temperatures (A kid died once while taking a test due to untreated sickness and lack of sleep).

When I say 9 hrs a day, I don't mean every other hour, or including breaks, etc. The students study 9 hrs a day, eat meals while studying, no life, etc.

Now for China, we have basically China's entire student body (that's a lot of people) applying for Beijing (Peking cantonese), Qinghua (Tsinghua cantonese), and Shanghai University.

Those three are basically the Harvard, Princeton, Yale of China. Graduating from one of those schools set you for life, because China is all about "connections."

Basically, unless you're an Albert Einstein Jr. here, you have no chance in getting into one of China's most prestigious schools and you are in competition with China's massive population who work their A$$es off.
