I know that Birnkrant has a nice balance of social life and academics and that sounds great to me. New/North of course throws parties quite often and that is great in its own way. I've done a lot of searching through the threads and I was wondering if anyone had personal opinions to throw in about Birnkrant versus New/North?

Are the parties out of control that it seriously gets in the way at New/North?
pros/cons of living at birnkrant and new/north
what kind of people do you find over at these dorms?
When people say loud when describing new/north...how loud is it exactly?

Of course adding your $0.02 isn't limited to these questions. I would just like to get some more insight from students that actually live there.

Where you live will honestly not affect your studying, unless you get stuck with a bad roommate. If you want to party more, it is easier living in New/North, but living there will also not hinder your studying.

Keep in mind too, that those buildings will fill really quickly. I think last year they were full by late March. Buildings like Pardee Tower, Marks Tower, Trojan Hall and Radisson fill later.

If you are applying right now, I would recommend requesting one of the other buildings as a later preference because it is quite possible that New,North and Birnkrant will already be full by the time you are assigned.

I think new/north is a lot better than birkrant partywise, but I think thats gonna change given that a student just OD'd on heroin in New/North. Birkrant is ok, but honestly aside from my experience in New/North, a lot of the Parkside people are still really close and a lot of fun. So i def would recommend parkside second.

pros and cons with birnkrant, new, north? Is a sink in the room really that helpful?
