I have taken high school french for 4 years but I'm still not sure if I would be making the right choice taking French 5 at UCLA (I should've never taken the French AP in order to get out of French 4...). I'm definitely not perfectly fluent in French, I have a fairly good accent, and my grammar and mechanics when writing are adequate (I make LOTS of mistakes though). Does French 5 involve writing essays in French? How harsh are the professors? Have they accepted the fact that they are also teaching non-native French speakers who are prone to make a great deal of mistakes? Would it still be possible to get an A in the class with the vague french profile I have given of myself?

Sorry about all the questions, and thanks for any responses :).
