Classes, social life, etc.

How far away are the classes?
Depends. Maybe 12 minutes. Maybe 2 minutes.

Would i have to take a bus to go to classes? Is it that big?
If you want, then take the bus. Or you can walk. Is it that big? The campus is big. But its a small world and you see the same people everywhere.

How disverse is it? Many asians? Koreans?
There is every ethnicity you can imagine. Groups of the same ethnicity tend to clump together, but of course there are diverse groups as well.

How is the weather and temperature?
I live in Alabama and it is usually pretty hot here. I know the temperature is a bit highere in TX but how is the humidity?

The humidity sucks, but coming from Houston, the humidity in Austin isn’t as bad as what I’m used to. I guess how bad it is is all relative.

What do most people wear during summer? Just shorts?
Does anyone wear jeans?

Most people seem to wear shorts, but it’s not that unusual to see people wearing jeans.

Well, pardner, we Texans wear our boots and jeans and ride our horses to class. Daddy’s oil wells pay the bills. Except for our oft times mayoral candidate, Leslie, he might be in a dress or a thong. LOL!

Seriously, you will see some of everthing in Austin. You might want to Google “Keep Austin Weird”.

@eaglemom10 Sorry, sort of unsure. Were you implying that the Mayoral candidate Leslie, is your/the dad you were referencing? The reason being how else would you have seen his thong?

So, then also wondering if your dad’s oil wells were paying for his oft times mayoral candidacy? That is cool!

If he is indeed your dad, well, you have oiled him well, thong or no thong!

Well, quantman … have I got news for you …

Leslie is famous in Austin. He was homeless until someone built him a home of sorts. He has run for mayor a time or two. He is known to wear his thong in public (perfectly legal in Austin) or various other “fabulous” outfits, sometimes wears dresses. At one time you could buy a dress up magnet of Leslie, outfits included.

I was joking about the horses and the oil wells. Which is really funny, all things considered.

LOL…just saw Leslie this weekend riding a bike in his thong…you will see all kinds of fun things in Austin!

To the OP…it really depends on where you live as to how long it will take you to get to class…my D lives on West Campus and I think she literally rolls out of bed about 20 minutes before her firtst class. There is a bus system but she has never used it…ever…although I am sure alot of kids do.

Somebody said Leslie died once. I didn’t believe it lol. But I looked it up and apparently he got really sick one year. :s He’s a big part of this city. :S
