How is the curve at NYU?

I know Stern has a "harsh" curve. Is it the same at NYU CAS, if you're studying economics?

hmm well it depends on the subject. In my bio and chem classes, the average on an exam is often 50-60%, so naturally there’s a curve. I’ve taken 2 CAS-Econ classes (Principles of MicroEcon and Principles of MacroEcon) and I think both were curved very slightly…I remember my average was a 91 in Macro and I got an A, which I wasn’t expecting. The intro econ classes were super easy though…the advanced classes are probably more difficult and maybe there’s a curve, especially if it’s a larger class (I took one over the summer, in a small class setting).

but CAS-Econ is generally not considered too hard so don’t worry about harsh grading. Getting at least a B+ shouldn’t be tough if you put some effort in (unless you’re just not an econ person or something). it also depends on the difficulty of the class and the professor’s grading policy.

The econ department curve is 30-35%=A/A-, 40-45%=B+/B/B-, rest=C/D/F. Starting from the top. But most profs don’t use the curve when you go to advanced classes and when curves are used its because everyone failed.

There are certain profs in the econ department that you should avoid like the plague. At all costs.
