My EFC will be very low. How is the aid? Loans?

I will try my best to obtain National Merit Finalist status (PSAT 219, I am sure I will be a SF but I will definitely try hard to reach Finalist). But say I didn't...how is the aid provided by the school?

Is it possible to graduate with <25k in debt, if you have a low efc? Are there decent college kid jobs in College Station that I could work at and save up some money/contribute?

Thank you in advance for your answers.

I got 24,500 last school year in financial aid, and then i got a full ride this semester, I havent filled out any special scholarship forms or anything, just the normal one! they seem to be throwing money at me, so from my experience I have a great experience with A&M financial aid!

Also, I was not a National merit finalist, nor was I in NHS in school! I had less that 5k worth of loans for freshman year, and i got a random grant at the end of freshman year that paid for all my loans, and plus gave me money for the summer! I also work part time at Chase bank, but none of that money goes to A&M since they gave me such a good financial aid package!

Aid varies from situation to situation but from comparing and stories from my friends at other Texas universities, financial aid is pretty good for students at A&M with low income/EFC.

For a more clarified look; my mom makes about 17k a year, supporting a family of 4. My initial financial aid offer was 20k, meaning a full ride with refund (part of it was a scholarship from the university, the remainder was aid.) She collected from a divorce and my financial aid offer was downgraded to abut 14k. Because the actual amount of tuition to be paid is actually about 16k, I only had to pay 2k for a “20k” tuition.

I have a pretty low EFC and my aid is terrible. I had way better aid offers from other schools but chose A&M for Mays Business…I’m a transfer though.
