@ISawKanyeLive That’s great you got accepted, but how are you going to afford it? We don’t hate to see success - we hate to see kids disappointed when they don’t get aid and can’t attend.
Right, when you know what your net costs will be, please tell us.
Posters don’t hate others’ successes. But you aren’t there yet. You need to pay the bills. If there’s a secret source of savings, you didn’t mention it.
Making solid decisions, building confidence, (truly, not just attitude,) is helped by examining from all angles, not just whether an admit is possible.
Congratulations for getting in!
Now’s the hard part:
- did you get a full tuition scholarship? Or at least a scholarship?
- did you get in for your chosen major?
It’s the hardest part because if the answer to the first question is no, then they “admit-denied” you (pretended to admit you but by not giving you a scholarship really didn’t admit you since they didn’t give you the means to attend).
Question#2 is not as important, you can decide your major didn’t matter as much as the university itself or you can find an alternative (ie., Agribusiness is a sought after major but easier to get into than business).
@ISawKanyeLive , Congratulations for all your hard work, the great grades, the good test scores, and for having a plan. Your tenacity and desire to achieve will help you continue to perform well. I’m proud of you.
I am glad you applied to UT and the other schools. I am happy for you that you got accepted.
Now (or when all your results come in) it’s time for you sift through the acceptances and FinAid numbers. There will undoubtedly be schools that don’t offer as much aid as you hoped and need. There will be schools you consider “less desirable options” that offer the aid you need.
The thing with plans is plans change. Maybe UT will give you what you need, maybe not. Just remember that UT is not the only school where you can attend, find happiness, and succeed. Odds are, you won’t end up at UT, but I have no doubt you will end up somewhere great for you.
Good luck, youngster, and keep us posted!
Congrats, but as a URM have you targeted schools that WOULD fund you? Look at the yield at UT.
