Well, I'm a prospective transfer student, and I'm just wondering how the transfer need-based aid is at Wesleyan.

Thank you!

Unfortunately, because of the economy (and a small-ish endowment), admission for transfer students is no longer need-blind. That being said, I have no idea how they DO allot the aid if they do let a transfer in who needs aid…

I’m a first year, and my financial aid was amazing (on par with what I got from other schools, but with less loans). It was a big part of why I chose wes.

Not being need-blind means, if they accept you, they think you’re worth spending the money (or, discounting the sticker price) for. The same fin’aid formula kicks in, except that thye’ve done the math before-hand (instead of accepting you “blindly”.)

I don’t think the need-blind policy has been officially done away with yet, WSA has strongly opposed it.

but I think they do allot FA for transfers in the same way as they do for incoming frosh. I found the financial aid package to be similar to all the other schools that “guarantee 100% of demonstrated need.”
