How is the Johns Hopkins math placement exam?

I’m preparing to take the Johns Hopkins math placement exam in a couple days. It says online that there are 45 questions. How long exactly is the placement exam and does it count for marks?

When I took it, the exam took around 1.5-2 hours. The exam itself doesn’t really count for anything. Technically you’re not even required to take it. It’s more of a guide to tell you if you should take your AP math credit or not. You are in no way bound by the results given by the placement exam I “placed” into calc 2 but chose to ignore the recommendation and take my BC calls credit and got an A in calc 3. I also know people who placed into calc 2 or 3 but chose to take a lower level class either for an “easy A” or because they wanted a refresher on some concepts.

From the website: “The placement exam is an advisory tool to help us gauge your preparedness for mathematics at a proper level here at Hopkins. It is not a means to “pass out” of a particular course, and credits will not be issued nor a waiver granted solely based on a placement exam score.”
