How is the party scene at University of Minnesota-Twin Cities?

I am a straight A Hispanic female student in my second year at Uni. of Maryland and I'm planning on moving back to MN due to family health issues and the need to be closer to home because of it. I definitely want to be challenged academically so I'm considering transferring to UMN-Twin Cities for the fall of 2014. I am a huge party girl.. So my questions are...
Does umn party hard?
Is it easy to find a party?
How are the house parties?
Should I be worried about risking becoming bored? Or is it guaranteed fun at this school?
Are there not parties in the winter due to the snow?
Also what's the best place for upperclassmen to live on campus with a good social scene?
Sincerest of opinions from direct insight please!

I am a poli-sci major and english minor if that makes a difference so I'd be in the college of liberal arts.

“Becoming bored” isn’t something that just happens to you as a result of bad luck, and there is no such thing as “guaranteed fun” at any school. Your attitude and actions will determine the kind of experience you have. FWIW, I think Maryland is a similar school in a lot of ways.

The Greek community seems to have the most parties from what I have seen. Centennial has a fair number of upperclassmen, but I don’t have any experience to help you with that.

As a transfer, you would not have the same kind of built-in social group as new freshmen. So I strongly recommend joining clubs or student organizations to meet people. Do you already have friends at the U from high school?

The party scene is what you make it. It all depends on who you are friends with and how social you are. If you join greek life, then your chance of attending the kind of parties that you are used to grow exponentially. However, I think the type of partying you are expecting will be harder to find…people here classify a party as 20 people in an apartment drinking and maybe some music therefore you kind of have to search a little harder for people that put on huge house parties.

And no, the snow and cold really don’t affect the rate of parties that occur.

Well I’m extremely sociable so it’s easy for me to make friends. Yeah the house parties I’m use to are usually in an actual house with a lot more people than that… I’m not looking to party every weekend, I don’t mind staying in or going out in town a few of the weekends. I do however have a great urge to party and dance sometimes and I need that while I’m in school. I moved from MN when I was in elementary school and only kept in contact with a select few so no I don’t have any friends in high school who go there.
