How is the student life like?

Hi. I just got accepted as an international transfer student into University of Wisconsin-Madison as a Business Major. I would like to know how is the student life like in University of Wisconsin-Madison, and is there a lot to do off-campus? Thanks!

For a college town yes. Is it NYC or San Francisco, no.

Don’t use the NYT article as your only source of information, please. The writer missed a lot.

There is so much to do on campus and close to it you don’t need to worry about it. Every student will have their own favorites based on their personality and background. Be sure to contact people via the UW international students’ website. I’m sure they will have group excursions and events for you. There are many campus clubs/organizations you can join- see the UW web page.

Runners run far from campus. Shoppers take a bus to one of the malls. You can easily walk to the Farmers Market at the Captitol square. The start of the fall semester will have many events.

Ah okay. Thanks a lot!!

It’s a city of young people and the capital of a politically tumultuous, decently-sized state. I’ve only visited, but I’ve seen no other city of its size that is as fast-moving and activity-filled.
